Wasn't planning to play. It was quarter to 7(pm) when I got to the first tee. Was just gonna go out on the course to practice shots. However, after hitting the prettiest little draw off the tee, and one of the longest drives I've ever hit on 1....then hitting a wedge to 10 feet, decided, to see if I could play a quick nine. I measured the tee shot with my rangefinder at about 280 yards! Can't remember hitting a wedge in from the blues on 1. Maybe once before. Usually 7i-hybrid. So yesterday's driver woes went away.
Hit the ball well the rest of the round, for the most part, but still got in trouble a couple times. I was rushing to get the round in before dark.
A few other highlights:
Center cut drive on 4th left me only 134 to back pin. Estimate 265 yd drive or more.
Good flop from left side of green on 5th up on hill. Hit my mark. Even so, rolled down the steep slope to 15 feet past. No stopping it. (Missed the uphill par-saving putt, coming up 2 inches short.)
Nice up & down sandy on 7th for par. The sand shot was good. The putt was better.
Beautiful hybrid off tee on par 3 8th to 8 feet. Chickened out on the birdie putt and came up a foot short.
Finished up about 8pm.
Right shoulder needed ice again (two days in a row) after 7 rounds in 9 days.
