Went out to practice, but Rodney (ranger) decided to play with me starting on the 7th hole. I had been hitting multiple balls on the couple of holes I played prior, working on some things. Once Rodney joined I started playing 1 ball. Parred 7th, 8th and 9th with Rodney, so thought maybe I should keep score on the back nine.
Good birdie looks on 10 and 11. Missed a touch right with birdie putt on 10, but the one on 11 was right on line, stopping just short of the hole. Didn't hit it. Alice.
Was outdriving Rodney on every hole, surprisingly. Except the 13th, where I hit a push fade and was 20 yards short of him. Still got there in regulation and in for par. Awesome drive on 14th left me 70 out. Drive rolled through fairway into right rough. Tees were back and hole was playing about 350. I'm guessing drive was in the neighborhood of 270-280. Got good roll on firm fairway.
On par 3 15th, the blue tees were set alongside the black tees all the way back on the back teeing ground. Pin was 198. Hit a good hybrid, but came up a little short of green. Chip and 2-putt bogey. Nice up and down on 16th after leaving my drive on the back side of a large mogul, between two trees. Hit a hybrid to 5 yards off the green in the fairway, then chipped to 5 feet and 1 putted to save par. Only 1 putt of the day.
On par 3 17th, pin was a 203. Hit 3W onto green, a long lag and nice 4 footer in.
Drive on 9th got pushed a bit right, and over the fairway into the rough. Nice 3W. Mis-clubbed on approach. Thought a 9 iron would be plenty to the uphill pin, but needed more. Came up short in left side pot bunker. Out, to 8 feet, but 2-putted for bogey.
Noticing that when I try to get too inside out with driver (and hybrids too) I am sometimes getting a push fade. Me no like that.
