Great day. Played with two nice gents, Tony and Vince. I played really well. Drove the ball as solidly as ever. Missed some fairways, but distance was very good on nearly every drive using new swing thought.
With the exception of ending up in the rough on 7th, literally 1" in front of the fwd lip of the third fairway bunker on left, leaving me an almost impossible stance, driver was never a problem. I ended up bogeying that hole as my set up/stance required standing on the very front edge of the bunker with the ball all the way back in my stance. As I made my backswing the weight shift caused the edge of the ground above the bunker to give way and my back foot dropped a foot into the bunker. Somehow, I was able to make contact with the ball, but it barely went more than 10 yards. In the end a pitch and 2-putt totaled 5 for bogey. The drive was one of my longest ever on that hole, maybe 2nd only to the one I hit there last night. I rarely reach the 3rd bunker, let alone get to the front of it.
Only one poor shot not counting the mishap on 7th for the entire round. Off 17th tee into trees on right. Left me with a dirt lie on the side of the hill, under the trees. Couldn't do much with it other than punch it a bit closer. Pitch and 2 putt for double. Only bad hole today.
After the first couple holes, Vince and Tony moved up to the whites. I stayed on the blues and yet, continued to drive the ball well past both of them on every hole. My best driving day in recent memory.
