Played with Bernie. He played well. I played pretty well, but only beat him by 2 strokes.
Went off at 8:30. Humid. Warmed up quickly into mid 80s by 10 am.
Rushed to get out in front of a slow foursome, so didn't get to warm up. First drive was okay, center fairway, but a long way out. Didn't get it all. Then 2nd nearly lost right, but hit a good 3W from near the drop area, about 200 out, to just right of green. Decent chip, but 2-putt for bogey. Good drive on 3rd and then finally made first par on 4th after another good drive and GIR. Driver worked most of the rest of the way until 16th.
Found myself pressing a bit on the back when Bernie got his game working. He actually beat me on the back. Closest he's ever gotten to beating me for the round. Too close for comfort from my perspective. May have to stop helping him! My work is done.
A couple par putt lip outs, a 3-putt on 8th, 2 weak short flops, neither of which reached the green, and a two or three other loose shots, but didn't play poorly overall. Greens are getting close to speed. Probably played about 10 stimp today. Maybe a touch faster on some.
Really no major complaints with game. Just didn't score well.
