Wasn't going to play today, but shoulder wasn't too bad when I woke up and the temp was forecast to get up in the high 50s. I knew it would be quiet since rain was forecast to begin in the early afternoon. It scared nearly everyone away, so I had the place almost all to myself. It did begin to rain as I was on the 7th hole, and continued to do so on and off throughout the round. Anyone who was on the course quit, except me. I was the only one out there by the time I got to the back. At the end of the round, I washed off the cart, and parked it in the final spot in the cart barn, then plugged in the charger on it for the night so Dave would not have to leave the pro shop to do it. The cart kid had already gone home when it was determined that I was the only one on the course.
Whatever was not working yesterday, was back on track today. I think I figured out the problem today as my driver was once again, long and effortless. In fact, so were other clubs too. Felt great.
Really sweet bunker shot on 4th to 1 ft. Felt I could put it close before the swing, and did. Almost went in, but left me 9 inches for tap-in par save. Tap-in birdie on 9th with PW to 1 foot.
Couple of 3-putts hurt, but deserved the one on 18th. Was way long on approach. However, on steep uphill par 3 8th, tee shot seemed perfect. Took extra club and felt like I hit it well. Was surprised to see it land short of the green and nearly roll back to the bunker, but it stopped in the rough just above the bunker lip. Hit a good pitchip from there, or so I thought, but was appalled to see it not quite make it over the ridge to the back level of the green, where the pin was located. It slowly started to roll back down the green after getting to within a few feet of the pin. Unfair. Picked up speed and rolled all the way back to the front of the green leaving me a 35 foot uphill par putt. Barely got it over the ridge, but it stuck this time, albeit 8 feet short, then missed the bogey putt left by only a few inches. 3-putt double bogey.
Hit some good long drives today. Temps only in the 50s, so encouraging. Played the same ball all day, and most of yesterday. Got my money's worth.
