Played with Bernie. Cold. 5th 18-hole round in 5 days. There was a crack in the armor today, after so many good rounds in a row. Couldn't seem to get it going. Shoulder started to get a little sore, right hand fingers were cracked and bleeding. Didn't drive it as well today. A few good ones, but nothing like it was for the last four rounds. Had a couple thin wedge shots which resulted in a couple extra strokes.
Hit some really good shots from difficult lies. A 3W 2nd shot on par 5 18th from a lie just off the fairway in a bare spot in the rough. Was sitting on dirt with thick grass up against 3 sides of it. Bernie said move it. I said no. You don't learn anything from hitting from perfect lies all the time. I hit one of the best 3Ws I can remember. Had 50 yards left to the pin. Unfortunately, I flew the easy wedge shot long and into a back bunker, ending up with a bogey.
Had a great 58* flop from tight fairway, over the front grass bunker to a short-sided pin. Went 4 feet past. Made the par saving putt.
Shot of the day was a 58* full shot from deep cabbage up the steep side of the green on par 3 17th after thinning my hybrid tee shot into hazard area. Couldn't see pin, just the top of the flag, barely. I put it to about 10 feet. Unfortunately, could not save that par. But, since I had hit a provisional which was lying 3 off the green to the right, finding and playing the first ball from a nasty lie, then walking off with a 4 was quite satisfying.
Supposed to rain tomorrow, but temps near 60. I'm torn. My hands are all cracked, my shoulder is starting to act up and 6 days in a row won't do it much good. But, it may be the warmest day we have for quite some time. Back to 40s on Wednesday. Highs in the 30s forecast for next week.
