Good to be back home after Florida trip. Game felt better. Nice day. 50s and sunny, but a bit windy. Made things a little difficult.
Hit driver okay. Irons better. (I guess I just don't like Bermuda grass.) Played one of the new Titleist AVX tour balls that I was able to buy in Florida. At nearly 50 bucks a dozen, I waited until the 3rd hole to put one in play. Did not want to lose one on the first two forced carries. Felt great, but harder than expected off the tee on 3rd. On the 4th tee, hit another great shot into center of fairway. Hit 6i approach into a quartering wind off the right and over-cooked it a bit too, which pushed it left of the green. Saw it hit the ground. Couldn't see where it ended up though. Got to the green and looked everywhere for it. Should have been findable. Cabbage left of cartpath was all cut down, though I didn't think it could have gotten that far left. I looked for well over 10 minutes with no one behind me. It HAD to be there! It wasn't a bad shot. Son of a bitch! My brand new, limited edition AVX was gone. When someone finds it, they probably won't even realize what an AVX is. Pissed me off. Didn't care about the penalty I incurred. Just the AVX I lost, on a shot I really never thought there was much of a chance to lose it.
With the sun so low this time of year, it is very difficult to see where balls go when hitting into the sun. And that seems like just about every shot lately. Better keep the AVXs in the bag for late afternoon rounds.
