My favorite course in the area. Played with a couple from London. Vaughn and Carey. Very nice. Enjoyed playing with them. We played from the Gold Tees which are the equivalent of the blue tees. Usually I play Silver here, but Vaughn had already teed off from the Golds, so I did too. Not that big a difference between the two. Couple hundred yards longer from the Golds.
Driver is not right, but was good enough to keep me in it. Hit a couple good ones, but too many just okay. Irons were short again. Something about Florida steals distance. Played extra club all day. A few real nice full wedge and short iron shots where I stuck it close, within a few feet. After a bad drive on 18th I knew it would take 3 shots to get to the green. Stuck a 54* wedge to 18" to save par and end a decent round.
Struggling with my usually solid short game due to the closely trimmed Bermuda. It's in my head. Tried a flop on 10th that came up woefully short after sticking the club in the ground. Made that same shot near perfectly on the practice chipping area at least 20 times before the round. Made some nice putts today. Lots of 1-putts got me up and down to save pars and bogeys. Only one 3-putt on a par 5 after my worst drive of the day (Somewhat topped), yet still made GIR. Overall, did not make near enough GIRs today. Disappointing.
Two sandys. Out of 3 attempts. Much better sand here than at University a couple days ago. Wish I could play this one again. Feel I should and could go much lower here.
