The phrase "Close, but no cigar" describes my round today. I was in a great position to finally break 80 on the tee box of hole 16, and I proceeded to cold shank my tee shot, which led to a double bogey. I was still in position to break 80 with a par on 17 and 18, but cold shanked my tee shot on hole 17, which led to an 8. I was furious to say the least!
The take away from today's round is I put together 15 solid holes. I'm pretty sure both of my shanks were caused by poor setup. I was trying to remain loose and as a result I think I was too loose and didn't take enough time with my setup. If I keep putting myself in position to break 80, eventually I'll do it.
