Started at 6:30. Only got in 16 holes before dark. Had to take ESC score on 17 and 18, which unfortunately are 2 of the tougher holes, both of which I have to take bogey, even though I was playing quite well and was confident I could have parred at least one of them.
Driver was fantastic. Set up for draws on the left side of tee box and kept it in the fairway---and long---all evening. Didn't want to stop hitting drives tonight. Felt awesome, playing from the blue tees and driving it as far or past where I typically drive it to from the whites. So far, loving this new driver. Also hit great 220 yard 3W off the fairway for 2nd shot on par 5 13th leaving me only 50 yards to a back pin. Should have been an easy par, but opened the clubface on my 58* wedge so I wouldn't hit it over the green and instead nearly went right under the ball like a flop shot from the fairway, ending up short in the bunker, 25 yards away. Biggest mistake of the round. Nearly saved par with a 40' putt to within 4 feet but missed the par saver.
Other mistake was on 15th, par 3, playing 175 from the blue tees. Hit 5i about 185 over the back of the green. Decent flop back up, but 2 putt bogey.
Awesome drive on 16th, a perfect draw, left me with 150 in from the blues which were playing about 425 yards to the pin. Sitting just off the fairway in rough thick enough that it grabbed the hosel on my approach shot and closed the face down on me. Left it pin high 3 feet left of the green in the rough. Decent chip, but another 2-putt for a disappointing bogey after such a great drive.
Hope I can continue this ballstriking tomorrow. Another hot one on tap according to the forecast.
Was really hitting the ball well tonight. Wish I could have finished those last two holes.
