Hot. Near 90. Played well, but have a new problem. I am hitting the ball too freakin' long! Much longer than average. About 10 yards with short irons and wedges and---no complaints here---but driver was 20-25 yards longer today. Nice problem to deal with. Played new 917 D2 for the first time for every driver tee shot. Ready to take the 915 out of the bag. Hit one of the longest drives of my post-shoulder-surgery life on par 5 5th. Measured nearly 290! Whatever I am doing, I have to figure out how to keep doing it. Missed a bunch of fairways, however, all but one was playable. Pulled a long drive on 4th deep into the fescue left of the cart path and had to take unplayable penalty. Then hit my next shot from fescue into more fescue. Only real poorly played hole of the day. On par 5 18th, though it ended in double bogey, hit a great drive. Then a well hit 3W a little off line into fairway bunker. Hit 7i okay from the fw bunker, but came up just short of green. Chipped with too much spin and it bit hard and too early. 3 putted from 25 feet.
Seeing some nice results with the new driver.
Three 3-putts hurt me, though I did not putt poorly otherwise. But other than the 3-putts, had a very satisfying day. I can really get used to this added distance. It's so much more fun hitting short irons into greens. Actually went over green on 5 different occasions today, where the wedge or iron I would normally hit was too much club. Really hitting irons and full wedges longer than I can remember. Maybe it's the temperature, but I feel like my swing is solid right now. Itching’ to play tomorrow. Hoping for the same driver distance.
