Played the blue tees after striking the ball with driver quite well beforehand on the range. Hit it good. Didn't really hurt my game anywhere near as much as the very thick, un-mowed for 4 days rough did. Tried a few times to hit 5W out of rough with not good results on the front, resulting in double on 5th and 9th. Other double on 3rd was mostly due to a poor layup into right rough, then a shanked 50 degree wedge out of the deep rough, which surprised me.
Played the back pretty well. Had a weak drive on 10th, into rough right of fairway bunker. Then hit a great 5i out of the rough, over the water, to about 12 feet. Then on 11th, from the blues, 25 yards further back from where I normally hit from, hit a perfect drive, leaving me the same distance to the pin I usually have from the whites. 50* wedge to about 20 feet, and then made the long putt for birdie. Another long putt on 12th saved par. On 13th, had a long approach with 6i from deep rough. Considered going up to 5i, but luckily stayed with 6i. Hit it from the rough perfectly, though it continued about 25 yards past the pin, yet still on the green. Another par.
3 putt on 14 was the first real hiccup. 169 yard 5i to 8 feet on par 3 15th. Great up and down on 16th after one of the worst drives, way right. Hit 5W to get close to green, but chipped with 58 to about 7 feet long. Made another good par saving putt. Bogey on 17 from blues playing 175. Came up short of green, chipped to about 10 feet and missed putt. Then on 18 with the blue tees back even further than normal, hit another great drive through the chute and into dead center of fairway. Then a 3W uphill which got me 185 yards closer, landing in the fairway, but trickling into the rough. Had 162 to back pin. Hit 6 iron just left, but couldn't hold green and it rolled a few feet off the back. Pitched an open-faced 58 to 1' for a tap-in par save. Happy overall, but would have liked a few more GIRs.
