Played with Bernie W. and Mike (who I have played with before--young midweek member). Nice day. 1/2 club to a club breeze at times.
Driver sucked. I lost everything I had going for me off the tee the last month or so. Timing completely screwed up. Like last year when I could not hit a good drive. At least my irons were okay. Actually started on first with an okay drive into the wind leaving me well short of where I should have been. Needed 21* hybrid. One of my best shots of the day, from about 185 yards out, from thick rough, no less, to about 2 feet from the pin. Nice birdie start.
Same poor short drive on 2nd. Lie on side of hill in rough. Same hybrid, very different result. Still had 80 yards after that. Finally got there with a sand wedge. But no save. Kind of went downhill after that, though score did not show it. Was able to somehow grind out a pretty decent score, but did not drive or hit many good shots. Tempo and rhythm was off with driver, and even a bit with long irons and 3w. Played 5th horribly. On 2nd shot after a weak drive into right rough, I basically went right under the ball with a 3W and popped it up and forward about 40 yards. Embarrassing. Then proceeded to slice a hybrid short of the right FW bunker. Finally hit a good PW from deep rough to about 10 feet, but 2-putted.
I know my swing was way off today, because my RIGHT shoulder hurt. My left hurts when I'm swinging well. My right one when not.
Last four holes were good enough to salvage a pretty good score, which included a chip-in bird on 17. Unfortunately, my game was not anywhere near the level of the score I was lucky enough to post.
Took four days off and felt like I forgot how to swing my driver. Really showed up in my poor GIR stat today. Only 33%. Try again tomorrow. Icing RIGHT shoulder tonight.
