Played solo and jumped around. Though only counted first ball in play on each hole, hit additional practice shots. So marked round as practice. Can't enter for GHIN.
Drove the ball fairly well, despite the fact that the wind was gusting 25+ most of the day. These last few rounds where I have practiced while I played have really helped me find some interesting new swing elements that are giving me a bit more distance. Pushing my left shoulder though.
Hit irons very well again. Putting was better, but so are the greens, somewhat. The wind really limited my ability to hit greens today, but I had a stretch on the back where I got up and down 4 holes in a row. 2 were from longer putts to save par and 2 were due to good chips. Hit 3 of those 4 greens, but the wind pushed each approach further than expected, and off the back.
On the 16th, the wind was howling and dead into my face. Hit what felt like a really good drive, straight into the wind with low spin, but the 20-25 mph wind still knocked off 40-50 yards at least. Still had 175 to get in. With that wind, I pulled a 3W and choked down a little. Hit it better than expected. Was sure it was well over the green, even with the wind. Started looking behind the green and could not find it. Surprisingly, a ball I saw laying in the fairway 20 yards short of the green, which I assumed belonged to someone else who hit it from an adjacent adjacent fairway, turned out to be my ball. The wind stopped it 40 yards short of where I expected to find it. Chipped to 8 feet and made a nice putt to save par.
On 17th only had 165 to the pin, but it too was into the wind. Hit a hybrid and came up on the hill just short right of the green. Flopped a 58* wedge from a decent lie in the rough to 10 feet and made that putt too. 4th up and down par save in a row.
Almost reached par 5 in 2 on 18th with the wind. Still needed a 1/2 swing 58* wedge to get on. Had a makeable birdie putt from about 10 feet, but missed. Settled for par.
