80 degrees and sunny. Played with Will. Course was all screwed up due to the AJGA practice round. Foursome in front of us took finished 20 minutes to play the first hole. We played through on the second, but eventually were behind some practicing AJGAers. Very slow. On 10th, the group ahead of the group in front of us decided to go inside at the turn and then jump back in front, leaving a hole in a half open in front, and a backup behind. After finally getting through the 10th, we had a group waiting on the 11th and the group ahead in the fairway, with no one ahead. We got so frustrated, we just blew off 11 and 12 and went to 13. Posted ESC score for those holes. We played match play for the final 6 holes since keeping score went out the window, skipping those holes. Didn't have a great front anyway, even though I started out with good drives and good approaches on the first 3 holes. Putting got me again. 3 putts galore. Didn't par a hole until 5th. Only parred 3 on the front, though hit 5 greens if memory serves. Didn't par many more on the back, but frankly, my head wasn't into it today. Course was crazy with maintenance workers on every hole preparing for the tournament tomorrow. It was hard to stay focused over the ball. The guys did not stop when we were hitting approach shots. So, if they were working in a right greenside bunker and the pin was on the right, both Will and I were tending to go left, subconsciously, to make sure we avoided them. It happened to both of us a few times each on the back. Not a good way to play golf. Annoying.
Feel like my game has not been sharp all week. Putting has been atrocious. I'm having speed issues on the greens. Just can't seem to judge these things as they heal. Losing confidence, whereas last week, I felt untouchable tee to green.
Haven't had a birdie in a few rounds now.
