Played with Bernie and Will. Nice day. 70s and sunny. Greens still pretty inconsistent. Probably cost me a stroke or two, at least.
Started with a lipped out birdie putt on 1st, and then put my drive on 2nd into hazard. Tried to play it from hazard, but got in deeper trouble. Ended with double.
Made a nice pitch on 3rd for a shot to save par, but the 6 foot putt bounced left and right all the way to the hole and missed an inch left. I blame the green on that one.
Wind got me on 6th. Thought I hit an awesome shot. Felt perfect. Was sure it was going to be good. It was dead at the pin. However, it fell short, landing just over the front pot bunker and trickling back in. Total surprise. Did not feel that much wind,but it was there. I was thinking ace while it was in the air. Oh well. Made a good sand shot but missed the par saver.
On 7th a nice drive and then a knock down 9 iron to 6 inches for bird. Should have made par on 8th, but green bumps got me again.
Played 12th well again. Got up and down for par from just off the back right of the green. Made a nice chip. Hit my spot and trickled it down to the hole. 1 putt save.
Played pretty well. Penalty on 2nd was as a result of a good drive that I tried to draw, but over-cooked too much. Hit it well though. Bigger mistake was trying to hit out of the hazard. Should have taken the penalty and dropped for my 3rd. Instead tried to hit out and ended still in hazard. Took the unplayable then, but the damage was already done.
