Played with Will and Joey. Colder than expected. 52 degrees, but seemed much colder. Marked this round as first in-season round, but did not post it to MSGA for actual index. Conditions far from ready. Snow still around in small amounts in bunkers. I'll give it another week or so before actual posting.
Got off to a not-so-great start just missing a par save on 1st, then putting my drive into the left lateral hazard on 2nd and having to take a penalty and ended up with double. Played third okay. Went for the green instead of laying up and would have been in good shape, but caught a branch on tree front left of green and fell short. Good pitch, but missed par saver.
Game started to turn around after putting my drive on 4th well left into wetland area. Not marked as hazard, so played a blind shot from tough lie with 5i to just short of green in fairway.Then got up and down for par. Played 1 under par the rest of the front, with tap in birdie on 9th. Literally 6 inches from cup.
Had a slightly skulled chipitch on 11th over the green after driving the ball just short of the green. Should have been a birdie, or easy par, but ended up with a 1 putt bogey. But on the tough 12th, made a great approach and GIR par. Bogeys on the easy 14th, 17th (with a 3 putt from 20') and 18th hurt an otherwise good round.
Drove the ball well for the most part. Irons were good. Short game was so so today.
