Had no plans to play. Was supposed to be windier. But the sun tried to come out so I thought maybe I would go practice a little. It was 40 degrees with a 5 mph breeze. Got there and found the course virtually empty, so figured, wtf, I'll play.
Worked on driver a little, trying to find what was working so well last week. Finally found something towards the end of the round. In the meantime, hit it pretty well. Best drives were on the back after realizing my takeaway wasn't as low and straight back as it was when I was getting a draw on every drive. Started that move and boom, the draw came back. I bombed the last few drives (relatively speaking).
It was cold when I started and got colder as the round went on. Probably about 36 or 37 and felt like about freezing. Got home and it started snowing lightly (flurries).
Continue to hit irons good for the most part. Chipping was good. Got up and down a few times with great chips including a chip in from just off the back of the green on 2 for birdie. Hit approach there pure and went longer than expected.
Missed a couple birds with good putts that just didn't drop. On 14, putt rolled right over edge. On 17, hit 6 iron to 8 feet and the uphill putt was right on line, stopping hanging over the edge of the hole. Needed to go one more dimple.
Nice 5i approach on 18 after a less-than-stellar 3W from the rough. Ended 10 feet from the pin, and again, missed the bird by an inch.
Felt like playing a few more holes, but shoulder wasn't too happy. Went home and iced it instead.
Round 12 in January. Wow. And now Tues the 31st might be a possibility. Forecast for 45 and sunny.
