Really should have rested my shoulders, but was anxious to try and figure out driver issues from yesterday. Did not hit the ball that well off the tee today, but thankfully my irons kept me in the game. Struggled trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Found something later in the round, but by then, there wasn't enough round left to make much of a difference.
Terrible drive on 3rd didn't make much difference. Even though I needed 7 iron to make the green on my 3rd shot (which gives a clue as to how bad the drive was), I normally layup and play to the green on the 3rd shot anyway. However, that 3rd shot is usually with a 58* wedge, not a 7 iron. 3 putt was the reason for the double.
The worst double was on the easy par 3 15th. Pulled 7 iron left of green and down the side hill. Pitched up and over the green, 1 yard into the rough. Then chipped from the rough but was short-sided and the ball rolled 8 feet past. 2-putt double.
Also doubled the tough 12th, but the 3W drive was good, as was the 5i from the rough. Didn't quite reach the green and chip required a bounce in the rough and perfect release to get down to pin. Hit my spot, but release was much more than expected. Another 3-putt, another double.
Iron play was pretty good. Driver was the big issue, which was starting to come around toward the end when I started to swing much easier.
