80's, sunny, a 5+ mph breeze.
We started on #3. These were two (2) nine hole matches. Holes 3-9 and 1,2 were a Four-Ball with me and Dave Ruelle against a pair from Indiana. I was on fire. Even with a couple shaky drives on #3 and #5 I started par-birdie-par and we were up by two and never trailed. We won that match on #9.
#10-18 was a modified Foursomes match, same partners and opponents. Instead of the traditional alternate shot all the way, we both drove off the tee and each team selected the drive. Then alternate shot from there. Dave is generally a longer driver but he was struggling a bit so he went first. We always had a decent choice of drives and I constantly fed Dave positive comments until he came around. We fell behind but we tied it up on #14, won #17 and finished them off on #18 when we were 8 feet for birdie and they were already lying 5 from 30 feet [2 up].
Team play was a lot of fun. I can see if one is not playing well, team play can be demoralizing. I was playing well so I am sure my impression of how fun it was was colored by my pulling the team to victory rather than being the weight that sank the boat.
