First time playing here. Played with Will from Worthington. Had no idea where to be or not to be. 2 club breeze. Started with penalty on first. Thought I hit a good approach but breeze knocked it down and into water hazard. Took awhile to get comfortable here. Would like to play it again with no wind and the knowledge I now have about it.
Greens are nowhere near as undulating as ours and I played way too much break on almost every putt. Even after realizing these greens didn't break much, I could not bring myself to play straight putts. I would add a little for the break which I was sure was there, but it wasn't. After about 3 or 4 3-putts, I gave up and just enjoyed the course. Didn't really keep score though I know I had a bunch of pars and bogeys and no double bogeys after the first hole. The only reason I entered any score here is to show the round in my list of scores for the season...and to show that I played somewhere else for the first time in a month and a half. So, at worst I could have shot an 87 and at best, maybe an 83. I think I had only 4 pars (might have been 5) and one double. I think that works out to about an 86 if my math is correct. Will was actually playing a few strokes better than I was, until the 16th when he put 3 balls into the woods off the tee, and then after giving up and dropping a ball by me, he hit his approach into the woods as well. So 4 penalties on the hole probably left him with about a 10 or 12 on that hole which pretty much killed any chance he had to beat me. He was probably 4 strokes up on me before that hole.
Did not play terrible. I was just not comfortable on the greens and the wind played with my head after coming up short on shots on the first few holes. Only had two penalties, but that's two more than usual. In addition to losing a ball in the hazard on the first, I later pulled a drive into a lateral, which resulted in my second penalty there. I was actually able to make bogey, even so. Hit approach into greenside bunker and got up and down from there with a sandy.
Wasn't the best round, but it was a good day. Enjoyed playing again with Will. I'll play here again. Better next time, for sure.
