Driver not as good today. Was missing something. Hit a couple weak drives. A bunch of decent drives. No exceptional drives. Never got comfortable today.
Every hole seemed to have someone out there working on the course, which became very distracting. Very first hole, hit a good drive from the blues (one of best of the day), then had about 160 in. Guy mowing got out of way, but left the mower right smack dab in the middle of the fairway, in front of the green. Played with my head. Hit it poorly. That pissed me off so much I don't think I calmed down about it until the 5th or 6th hole. By then the damage was done.
A 3-putt double on third after going for green in two (which I rarely can or attempt to do) and reaching, but off the back from rough with steep downhill to pin. Chip landed where I tried to land it, but it would not stop rolling down the steeply sloped green. Rolled 15 feet past pin. After being 5 yards from the pin, lying 2 and walking off with 6, I was further steamed.
Doubled 5th after blind approach shot, which felt and looked perfect from my vantage point where I hit it from. Surprisingly, it was not even on the green when I got there. Thought maybe it rolled off back, but no. I found it in the deep bunker front right of the green. Grrrr! Got it up and out of the very deep bunker, but not quite to the green surface. A chip and two-putt resulted in 7/double.
On par 3 6th, drew a 7 iron 15 yards past 142 yard pin, almost into water on left, but it did get inside the hazard line. So when I went to hit my chip, could not ground my club. As a result, was a little unsure of myself and hit it too long. Two-putt bogey.
Finally started to get things going after that, but by then it was too late to salvage a great score.
