First round since went down with major plumbing infection last Saturday. Not much energy yet, but was dying to play. Tried to walk a few holes last night, but was still too weak. Only made it about 4 holes. This UTI was debilitating. Doc put me on antibiotics for twice the length of time that is normal. Have a feeling I will be weak for a few more days. I made it through 18 today, though in a cart.
Hit the ball okay off the tee today, using new set up. Screwed up once or twice, but for the most part, I'm starting to get comfortable with it. Worked perfectly off the first 2 holes, drawing nicely, where I aimed it. Though had many good drives, those two were the most satisfying to watch. Iron game was not as sharp as it has been. Hit some great iron shots, but also some ugly ones. Putting was better. Trying a slightly different set up with hands, keeping them closer to core. Feels right. Too many three putts, but not because of bad putting. More because too many long lags were necessary, as a result of poor iron shots.
Had two bad flops, both nearly going right under and only moving the ball half way to the intended landing area.
Need a good day of work on the range, practice bunker, chipping & pitching area and practice green. Just not sharp right now.
