Hot. 90 degrees or so. Went up to the course late. 4 pm. Hip pain still very bad, but wanted to try and play. Surprisingly, played 27.
Started poorly after a decent drive, then a 6i from the rough that bounced on and over the green. Far over. As in, into the woods behind the green. There was no one behind so I went back and rehit for stroke and distance penalty.
Then on 2nd hit great drive, leaving a 54* approach. To 6 feet and made birdie putt. Feeling better.
On 3rd, hit awesome drive with a rare chance to get there in regulation. Pushed it right and just caught hazard. Almost cleared it. Thought it did, but couldn't find it. So penalty/drop and another double. Started to get it together and rattled off 4 pars in a row. Bunker on tough par 3 8th ended in bogey. Then on 9th 3 putted for bogey, but actually considering I putted from 2-3 inches into the greenside rough after rolling through green on approach, it was really a chip and two putts. But since I had putter in hand, I call it three putts. I never putt from rough, but thought I only needed to touch it to get it rolling down the steep slope to the hole. "Touched" it too hard to make sure it got out of the rough and as a result it rolled about 8 feet past.
Hit mostly decent shots on the back, but scored worse. 3 putts got me again. Hit the ball longer than expected on more than a couple occasions which also resulted in worse score, but at least going long feels better than coming up way short.
Course was quiet at 7 when I finished, so went around for another 9.
