Played the Blues with Russ. Dumb. Peer pressure. Really had to work to hit greens. 3-putts hurt too.
Started off with a very long approach on 1st from a hook lie after overswinging at my drive (blue tees in my head). Hit 4W, but played it to go slightly left. It went slightly right. Hit cart path and bounced into deep stuff. Was lucky to get a club on it. Got it out of the deep stuff, but not to the green. A good chipitch got me close to pin to get up and down for bogey.
On third, hit a decent drive, but had no intention of trying to clear the hazard with approach. Still had 195 uphill to get to back pin. (Damn blue tees.) So decided to hit a 175 yard shot to the right of the hazard, which should have left me a LW over the hazard. Unfortunately, I hit the approach a little too long and a little too left...into the hazard, which is no longer feasible to play out of now that it has all grown in thick, with two weeks of constant rain. Penalty. Double.
On 5th, hit a very nice approach from the rough that nearly hit the pin. Wish it did. Instead it rolled all the way to the back of the long green, about 75 feet past the pin. The rough took any spin it might have had and it flew. Actually bounced it right in front of the pin. 3-putt bogey. Another 3-putt after GIR on 8.
Chunked chip on 11 pissed me off. Ball was sitting in a divot. I know how it should be played, but for whatever reason, I choked.
Burned the edge with birdie putt on 17 after 5 iron to 12 feet. Only realistic chance today. (Dame blue tees.)
Overall played okay, but had a little trouble with the extra distance.
CeeBee says:Yeah. Move back and see how much fun you had? Get back to the whites where you belong.
