Windy and cool. By the end, freezing cold wind. Played with Keith, Richie and Big Steve. Started on 10th. Still swinging fairly well. A couple weak drives, but for the most part felt decent. At least until I felt a tweak in my surgically repaired shoulder. Trying not to get too worried about it yet, but was certainly somewhat cautious with it after it happened. Not sure why it happened. Iced it when I got back to the shop and popped a couple Advil. Will see hpw it feels in morning before deciding for sure to play. Supposed to be even colder and windy again.
Birdie on 13th was a good one. Only 158 to pin, but into a strong wind. After watching the other three guys all come up way short due to the cold and wind, while using as much as two extra clubs, I went back to my bag and put my 4H back in (which was already a much stronger club than I would normally use) and pulled my 185-yard club, a 19* hybrid. Landed it about 3 yards over the bunker on the green and rolled it to 9 feet. Perfect putt for birdie which seemed so unlikely while standing on the tee with the wind howling in our faces.
Trouble on 16th after going in left deep bunker. Got out with a 60* but not quite to green. Chip and 2-putt for the requisite double.
Before the round I said to Keith, we probably shouldn't even think about entering the scores for our GHIN, because they were going to be super high as a result of the crazy wind. Never expected to pull off such a decent score in these conditions. Good to get this one in before the handicap season ends tomorrow.
