NOTE: Posted no scores/stats for last weekend's Member/Member tournament due to the two-man format. Did not play my best. We were not able to defend our championship. Finished 2nd gross and tied for 4th net. (10 teams in white flight) Conditions were bad on Sunday with 2 inches of rain overnight. Very soft and wet. Chunk City.
7/3/15: Played with Ben, Mike and Linda. Nice day. Worked on driver two or three nights during the week to try to get my draw back. It was much better today. Distance was decent, but accuracy was even better. Hit 13 of 14 fairways, though one of those was a lucky bounce off a tree well right, ricocheting back out to the middle. So it was more like 12 of 14. Stats DO lie, sometimes. Bottom line though, driver was NOT a problem today, though wish I could get a bit more distance. Changed shaft again to old UST VTS Silver to get a bit more kick. Not sure if it helped. Going back to Rogue Black tomorrow to compare.
Couldn't get good putts to drop. Burned many edges. Left 2 or 3 strokes out there on putting alone. For whatever reason, could not seem to make a good stroke with my 6i today. It cost me a couple strokes for sure. Hit shorter irons very well.
Got in trouble on 7th after a good drive. Approach was hit well, but just a touch right of target. Hit just right of green and bounced right...into bunker. Okay, no problem, I am very confident in my bunker abilities. Hit hardpack under ball and sent it over the green into thick vegetation on other side of cartpath. Hacked it out, over path, but didn't reach green. Chipped to 1' to save double.
Also got in trouble with slightly missed fairway on 11. Hit it up on the right side hill. Pushed it. Didn't slice it. Gave me a funky lie of which I tried to hit out with 6 iron to reach green. Side hill lie in a bunch of crap. Didn't get club on it cleanly and ended up in deep fairway bunker with another funky lie along left lip. Had to stand outside bunker with ball waaay below my feet. Hit it better than expected...over green, into more deep vegetation. Hacked it out and onto green about 5 feet from hole, but 2-putted for double.
Other than those two holes, embarrassing moments were few.
