65 degrees and cloudy. Had to go to play here one more time. Love this place. Best conditions around. Paired up with nice couple from Minnesota, Nick and Marnie. Really enjoyed playing with them. Nick hit it well off the tee. 30 yards past me on most drives. I stayed with him score-wise with my short game. Marnie did well too. So much better than the group I got stuck with yesterday.
Greens were very fast, just as they were last week. Hit the ball well for the most part. No terrible shots except for one shank off a tough sidehill lie, which I was able to still save bogey and one poor chip which I did not commit to because I was worried about having the wrong club for the situation. Should have used a 56 for the downhill chip, but didn't feel like going back to the cart, so used the PW which I had just used to pitch it slightly long. Was afraid to hit it too hard on the super fast green and decelerated, duffing the chip. I knew better, but did it anyway.
Very satisfied with the round overall, but my body was breaking down by the back nine as the Advil wore off. Right hip, right knee, right shoulder, and left inguinal ligament, all affected my swing by the back nine, but was able to keep it in play and give myself decent opportunities. (Icing everything right now as I write.) Hit some good drives on the front nine after finding something on the range that was working well.
Happy to finish up the trip at such a nice course with an enjoyable round. May take Mare out for 18 tomorrow at a smaller/shorter course (if I can get the swelling down in my rotator cuff) before we depart back on Saturday morning.
DougEly says:Thought it was a pretty good ball, but I am not convinced that it is as good as a Pro V1 yet. It may be, but I only compared it against an NXT Tour. It seemed to be at least equal to the NXT. Particularly around the greens. I spun both back with wedges and a nine hour about the same amount on some 120-85 yard full swing shots. On one hole, for the hell of it, I hit two drives off the same tee when I was playing as a single in one of the rounds. I hit both drives straight, and both seemed to be pretty close to the sweetspot, but I can't say for sure how perfect they were. They both felt good. The NXT was about 4 yards longer, which really means nothing on one drive. I'll have to compare them side by side, including my regular Pro V1, as my swing gets more grooved and the course conditions and temps get more summer-like.

DougEly says:Played one today Gio. Same ball for the entire round. Used it last week one round as well. Same ball.
