Still a bit breezy, but not as bad as the last two rounds. One club wind. Temps climbed back into the low 60s.
Played with Mare. We met up with her cousin Susan and John. Played down in Englewood, 1/2 way between their place and ours. Boca Royale is tight with tiny postage stamp greens. Not my favorite. No interest in playing it again. But it was fun to see them.
Had an up and down day. Played the majority of holes well, but on a number of others, played like a hack. I swear the tight fairways must have been in my head. I put 3 or 4 drives into the trees, whereas yesterday, on wide fairways, I was down the middle all day. Just that little bit of uneasiness standing on the tee of a tight fairway is all it takes. Probably should have hit irons off the tee, but with the wind, felt I needed the driver to get it out there.
The conditions were okay, but for a ritzy place, I expected more. No range, which made grooving my driver swing difficult. Paid for it on the second hole by leaking one right into water. Penalty. Ended with a snowman. So much for the par-start on one.
Greens were pretty slow, but true. No 3 putts. Of course the greens were so small, it was hard to 3-putt. They seemed about the size of my living room. If you hit the green, you had a realistic chance to one putt. Unfortunately, I only did a few times. One, thankfully was for bird. Hit a 6 iron 156 to about 8 feet and made the sidehill sliding putt. Lipped one out for bird on 18th too.
Daytona 500 Sunday. May play nine with Mare tomorrow, then hopefully a couple-three more rounds next week. Then back to where hell has frozen over.
CeeBee says:Been dealing with some snow up here too. Good playing down there. Keep it up.
