Played with Keith, Ben and Richie. Keith and I were going to use the round as our Oxford Cup qualifying round, but before we started, decided not to due to the fact that it seemed like it was going to be a very slow, rhythm-ruining round. As it turned out, it was fine. We hardly waited at all. It's just as well that we didn't use it for qualifying. Neither of us had a very good round. My driver came back after the atrocious last round I had. Drove the ball fairly well with the exception of two bad pulls due to over-swings and two leakers. The leaker on 15 was due to the same mental issues I always have with 15. Should have hit hybrid there. I knew that before I teed off, but I was stubborn. That one resulted in a penalty, compounded by a 3-putt, which left me carding a triple. Also had a penalty on 7 after power-pulling drive left into lateral hazard. Had a third penalty on 17 after another power-pull into high fescue left of cart path. Ball was well below feet and sitting down. Tried to dig it out with 6 iron. Got it out but the ball-below-feet lie had it leak right of the fairway traps, one bounce and into the lateral hazard (woods). Found it right on the edge, but had to take penalty/drop. No clear shot to the green, but got it close enough to get up and down to save bogey. Overall, a somewhat disappointing round, but better than my last debacle. We'll qualify later this week or over the coming weekend.
