12 hours of heavy rain left course drenched. Cart path only. Got no roll out of drives and approach shots. Came up short on many. Ball would hit ground and virtually stop within a few feet. A couple barely got out of their own pitch mark. Played Lift, Clean & Place on the short grass. Hit two decent drives to start on 1 and 3, but then struggled a bit with driver until 11 when I hit a great drive (from the blue tees, cause the whites were really soggy), approx 250 yds, then hit another great drive on 14. On both 11 and 14, I was playing through with the groups waiting for me to hit from the tee. Luckily on both, I smacked it good. On the second, I also played through a group after my tee shot, but wasn't as fortunate with the outcome while they watched. After a good drive, they called me up. I was hitting 5W from the fairway, but pushed it right and it hit a tree limb, knocking it directly back at me. It ended up maybe 60 yards away from me once it finally came to rest. Somewhat embarrassed, while they all waited, I hit another 5W, this time nice and straight, about 190, into the fairway, leaving me an easy 9 iron in. While they continued to wait, I proceeded to shank it well right of the green. Not sure how or why, but I am blaming the wet conditions. Finally chipped on and 2-putted for 7. That was my real ugly hole for the round. On 7, topped drive into water. Stroke and Distance. Haven't topped a drive like that in recent memory. I did not play anywhere near to the level I played yesterday. Though the score wasn't terrible, I did not feel in control of my game.
