Great front nine. Played with Ben and Joe, both members. A bit windy, but I hit the ball well, even so. Started with a great drive on 1st, which left me with a 80 yard sand wedge in. Hit it 95 yards. Had a 35 footer for bird, but blasted by 5 or 6 ft. Made the putt for par. Bogied 2nd, then came right back and hit another long drive, about 265, into the fairway on 3rd. Then 5W and 9 iron on. 2 putt for par. Bogied 4th after coming up a bit short on approach and then a bit short with chip. Bogied 5th after reaching GIR, but 3-putted. Only 3 putt this round. Putted very well actually, though still averaged 1.9 putts. Sunk 4 or 5 12-25 footers. On 6, great drive, 60* wedge approach pulled slightly, but still made the 12 footer for bird. Then on 7, another long drive, but missed approach right by a few feet. Chipped up, but 20 feet short, yet made the putt to save par. Putter was feeling very hot by this point. Parred 8th after GIR, then 9 too. Out in 38! A couple bad breaks on the back hurt me. Otherwise I did not play back badly at all. Drive on 11 was just too damn long. Went through the fairway into the rough, then into the red staked hazard. Took a penalty and drop, then hit a 52* wedge 15 yards more than normal, just off the back of the green. Chip and two putt for double, first of two on the back and both due to getting into trouble with good shots off the tee. Hit my 7 iron drive on 13 to under 7 ft for the second time this week, both times right on the pin. Just as earlier this week, missed the birdie putt, but made par. GIR and par on 14. Good drive on 15, but half-shanked my 7i approach which left me in a tough position to hold the green with my short pitch. Did barely, but 2-putt for double. Pulled 8i off tee on 16, just of the green. Weak chip, 2 putt bogey. Played 17 well. GIR, par. Then on 18, with the opportunity to have a really good score, I hit my drive perfectly straight, but too high, smack dab in the center of the deep pot bunker in the middle of the fairway. I hate that freakin' bunker. The next shot was the biggest mistake of the round. Maybe I was feeling cocky, but it was an uphill lie so I thought I might have a chance to put it up close to the green with a 7 iron if I could somehow get it up and over the lip. I couldn't. Caught the lip and it fell back into the bunker. I went back and got a nine iron as I should have done in the first place and hit it out far enough that I still only needed PWedge to get to the pin. Why didn't I do that the first try? Because I had to be greedy, that's why. And it cost me. Got on with the wedge, for 4th shot, then 2-putted for double to end an otherwise pretty good round.
