First of two 9-hole rounds. It got so slow out there that I decided to quit after this nine and go out front and play it again. That score follows this one. It was not a very good round, however, I may have found my driver stroke. Only had one bad drive--on 6--and then continued hitting it well on the second nine. My game started to go downhill after running into the slow groups ahead. By the 9th hole--par 3--I had waited for about 10 minutes as the group in front, first teed off while I waited back, then found their balls out in various areas of wasteland and rough, took two or three more shots each to finally get on on, and then another 5 or 6 minutes to putt out. By that time my rhythm was shot. I proceeded to hit a 3H fat, into the same crap they had just hit into. Pissed me off. I couldn't follow them any longer and I knew the front was wide open, so started over. There was no way I could have gotten in 18 otherwise.
Two penalties this round on shots that really weren't all that bad. The first one hit the green on 2 and bounced into the hazard. Had to take an unplayable. Got up and down for bogey. Then on 4,hit a 3H from a sidehill lie and drew the ball more than expected, into the hazard left of green. Found ball but had to take another unplayable penalty. Then chunked my little pitch into the greenside bunker. The rest of the round was acceptable, though the score wasn't too good. Made up for it on the next go 'round.
