8" of snow a week ago Saturday, yet only a few clumps of snow left off to the sides or the rough. Otherwise the course was near mid-season form. Hard to believe. 65 degrees to start play at 3PM.
Played pretty well considering a one week layoff and the left shoulder giving me new crunching, twinges, and clicking that are all a bit disconcerting.
Birdied the 5th after 8 iron approach was hit thin, but flew 3 feet off the ground onto the green, to 12 feet from the pin. Made the putt. Ugly birdie, but a birdie just the same! Hit the ball well overall, but had a few I'd like to have back. Had an easy 110 yd pitching wedge approach into Par 5 8th after great drive and nice hybrid second shot. Was licking my lips thinking I was gonna drop it close to the pin for a good shot at bird. Instead, chunked it. Left it 40 yards short. Chipped to 7 ft, but missed very makeable par putt. Bogey.
Was getting dark after the 9th, but went on to play the 10th and 11th for the hell of it. Parred them both. Both GIRs. It's getting dark WAAAY too early. Don't know how many 18 hole rounds are left this year. Gonna have to sneak out of work earlier than I usually do, just to get in nine.
