Bad round. Wasn't ready to play a new course without a little warm up. Had no time to even putt a bit before the round. They rushed me out as soon as I asked if I could get out. They said there were three guys going off the back, already on the tee. I didn't even have the clubs out of my car yet and they had already teed off. So they were waiting for me by the time I rushed over. Not a good way to start a round on a somewhat unfamiliar course. 207 yard par 3. Hit a fat 3H about 160 yards. Even my usually dependable short game wasn't ready. Pitched short of the green. Doubled the first hole. Snap hooked by drive on the next hole. Man, this seemed like it was going to be a long day. Certainly a bad start. Finally started to feel a little better by the fourth or fifth hole on the back. Couldn't putt these greens at all. They were actually slow and easy, but I kept reading breaks that weren't there and making putts that never reached the hole. Too used to the fast undulating greens I've been playing so much I guess. Managed 5 pars, one of which was a long 425 yard par 4 I reached in two with a nice 200 yard hybrid, dead at the pin. Went 40 feet past it though. Started hitting driver a little better midway into the round. Still had a few bad shots left in me for the 2nd nine, but all in all, it was a touch better than the 1st.
I am never rushing like that again. Felt like a 25 'capper for the first 1/2 hour. Played like an 18 ALL round! Just have to shake it off and move on.
