64* and mostly overcast. Pleasant conditions for this late in the year. As I have said before, I really like these greens. The ball goes where you aim it. Made a bunch of one-putts from 5-10 feet. Also sunk a 30 footer on 15 to save a bogey. Had back-back 3-putts on 12 and 13, but both were long tricky lags which I hit on line, but was fooled badly on distance. The greens were a little slow which made lag putts a crap shoot.
Chipped pretty well. Got up and down from inside 30 yards 4 or 5 times today, which, again, was also a result of really true rolling greens.
On the 18th, the blue tees were back further than I have ever seen them. I couldn't find them when I stepped onto the blue tee area. They weren't there. Instead, they set them even further back on the #5 tee box, ten yards behind the back of the normal 18th tee box. Hit a great drive, but still had 130 in, all uphill. On the card it says that hole is 342. When you factor in that it is all uphill, and that the tees were 20 yards further back than the center of the blue tee box, that hole was playing about 410 today. I came up short by a few yards with my approach.
2 or 3 poor swings with 3H today, but most all other swings were acceptable.
Played first and second holes over with Ray (who snuck out of the pro shop for a quick nine) after I finished my 18. Made a GIR on 2nd with him. I rarely ever reach that green in regulation. Hit a decent drive and an awesome 3H to the back of the green. It was playing about 435 from the blues today.
Round took about 2:45. Went back to work when I was done.
