Partly sunny, a breeze of about 10 mph and temperatures starting at around 45 degrees and finishing close to 60. It was warm enough that I played in a sweater & turtleneck with a ball cap. Ground was anywhere from damp and spongy to waterlogged. Greens furry and slow.
I arrived around 9:30 and no one was in the locked clubhouse so I just started playing. Many of the flags had blown down over the past couple weeks when the course was covered in snow but I had a fairly good idea where to aim. I hit a few good shots and more stinky ones but it felt good just to be walking the course with the sun out and grass showing instead of snow.
I was lucky to pick Hilltop. Every course in the area that stays "open" in the winter was closed because of the heavy rain the past 48 hours. Hilltop was technically closed but later when I checked in at the turn with the clubhouse guy he said he had no problem if I wanted to keep playing. About a dozen of us were wandering around on the course today. Back to winter tomorrow.
