Sunny, hot & humid (90's) with a breeze of about 15-20 mph. Fairways were very firm and the greens were very firm - hard to make a pitch mark. They rolled well and were fast.
We started on #10. Part of the 3rd Flight (Championship, 1st, 2nd, etc ... 7th)
I did not have a good ball striking round but other than a string of 3 putts starting on #1, I made a lot of 4-8 footers to save bogey or make par/birdie. Tournament total was 245 which ties my 3rd best total (best being 240).
One of the guys I played with on the last day hit the ball a mile. 2nd shot irons to all the par 5's, etc. I asked him the year of his birth (1988). He was 2 years old when I started play in this Tournament. It is interesting that all the players that used to be "regulars" in the event have faded away or only play in the Senior Championship now, except for me and my buddy Pat Harrison. I never have been competitive as far as winning the event or even making the Championship flight. Still, this is a tradition and I can still keep the score under 90. It will be a sad day when my health or lack of golf ability requires me to hang up the spurs.
