70 degrees, sunny. Wind was howling - 40 mph with higher gusts. According to the caddies it was the windiest day of 2013 so far.
I striped a drive into the wind on the first tee right in the middle of the fairway. One of my best golf moments of my life (of course you'll note I made double, but that is another story).
I can't describe how hard it is to set-up 35 degrees to the left of what a normal person would think was the appropriate target. Our caddies would tell us to aim for that brown area on the distant hill and we would try to hit a shot over the grassy sand dune into God knows what.
The balls were vibrating on the green from the wind. A down wind putt was almost impossible to stop and against the wind was really slow.
On #11, a par 3, the wind was into us and from the left. I started my ball 20-30 yards left of the green and it ended up in the pot bunker on the right. As I prepared to hit my bunker shot into the teeth of the wind the caddie said, "Firm tru da ball an keep your mout' shut." Best sand shot ever, even if I did not make par.
